Jury

The contest program is evaluated by an independent jury, which includes honored artists a professional musicians  and  teachers.
The jury has the right: to split, not to award all prizes or to award special prizes. The jury’s decision is final and not subject to change.

Jury evaluation criteria

1. Nomination “Instrumental creativity” (solo, ensembles,):

  • The degree of possession of the instrument;
  • The purity of intonation;
  • The musical structure;
  • The complexity of the repertoire;
  • The correspondence of the contest program to the age characteristics of the participants.

2. Nomination “Vocal Art” (solo, ensemble):

  •  Performing skills;
  •  Intonation;
  •  Ensemble structure;
  •  Complexity of the repertoire;
  •  Artistic expressiveness;
  •  Stage performance

Vyacheslav Ganelin (Israel)

One of the outstanding composers and jazz performers of our time. Professor of the Jerusalem Academy of Music. Member of the Union of Composers of Israel, Laureate of the State Prize of Israel, laureate of the State Prize of Lithuania, actively performing, the artistic director of the Jerusalem Jazz Festival “Jazz Globe”, the author of music for more than 30 performances and 6 musicals, 3 operas, 50 songs , Music to more than 60 movies.
  • 1988 – a teacher of the jazz department of the Rubin Academy of Music and Dance. Jerusalem, Israel
  • 2012 – Professor of the Department of Cross-Discipline Music of the Rubin Academy of Music and Dance. Jerusalem, Israel
 Worked and took part:

  • Prize (Bravo-2002) for contribution to the development of Lithuanian pop culture.
  • In 2003, the Republic of Lithuania granted V. Ganelin the “Order of the Grand Duke of Lithuania Vitówt” for contribution to the development of Lithuanian culture;
  • Laureate of the Landau Prize for Jazz Music (2005) in Israel;
  • Prize “Golden disc” (2010) for composer and jazz pianist in Lithuania.
  • National Award of Culture and Art of Lithuania (2016)).

Vladimir Skorokhodov (Belarus)

Clarinetist, teacher, public figure.
Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus, Ph.D. in Philosophy.
Doctor of Cultural Studies.
Wooden Wind Instruments Department Chairman, Professor of the Belarusian State Academy of Music. Author of 6 monographs and more than 80 scientific works. Jury member of many international competitions, conducted master classes in Belarus, Poland, Russia, France, Holland, USA, Lithuania, Ukraine, Israel.

Mikhail Kazinik (Sweden)

The full time chairman of the jury of the competition, the violinist and the pianist, the outstanding public figure, the educator, the art critic, professor of Drama institute of Stockholm and the Higher school of business of Scandinavia, honorary professor of RISEBA, the researcher in the field of music therapy, the director and the actor of the Stockholm theater Teatrstudio Lederman, the author of articles and studies on musical perception issues. Member of International association of writers and publicists, expert of the Nobel concert. He is among hundred persons who, in the context of 30th parallel project, make the greatest contribution to creation or description of the universe, concern of peace and life as such, and mankind in general by their daily activities.

Mikhail Svetlov (USA)

Bass, soloist of the Metropolitan opera, the outstanding soloist of the opera. He graduated Moscow State Conservatory of P. I. Tchaikovsky (class of professor E.E.Nesterenko). Right after the graduation he was enrolled as soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia where worked for more than 15 years, performing all leading repertoire. The international career of the singer began with a performance at the Wexford festival, further in the Hamburg state opera, Yehudi Menuhin’s Festival in Gshtaada; in the German opera in Berlin and in the Bavarian state opera. His great skills and magnificent voice saw the most known scenes of the world: La Scala and di Veron’s Arena in Italy, Metropolitan Opera in New York, Colon Theatre in Argentina, Bella Artes in Mexico, the German opera in Berlin and Hamburg, etc. He is one of the brightest representatives of brilliant bass vocal technique tradition developed by great Fedor Shalyapin. At the same time he is an outstanding actor whose thin interpretation always uniquely corresponds to styles, whims and words of each musical work. Mikhail Svetlov is the winner of international contest of opera singers in Italy, the nominee of Grammy award, as well the two-time Telerama award winner in France for world premieres of Stravinsky, Serov and Rachmaninov’s operas. He recorded disc of seldom performed works of “The Mighty Group” in 2009 on request of company «Naxos». He was invited by Mstislav Rostropovich, namely, to London at opening of the 1st festival of Benjamin Britten where he performed the 14th symphony of Shostakovich. The first Russian singer who performed with solo concert in New Zealand after triumphal performance of a role of Mephistopheles in Faust in the New Zealand Opera

Ata-Antonina Svetlova (USA)

Soloist, Harpist, Instructor.
Ata Svetlov was born in Moscow. She is a resident of the USA. After her musical school graduation, she received a Bachelor of Music degree from the Pre-Moscow Conservatory in class by M. Mchedeloff.  Then she attended Moscow State Conservatory in class by O.Erdeli, where she received a Master of Music degree for harp performer and teacher.
During education, A.Svetlov was already soloist of Moscow Philharmonic.
After  her graduation A.Svetlov immediately admitted as a former harp soloist of the Moscow Music Theatre under the direction of conductor G.Rozdestvensky and stage director B. Pokrovsky, as well as principal of Harp Quartet in Moscow for more than a decade. She also has a noted career as a soloist in the former Soviet Union, Italy, England and the United States.
Performances at world-renown stages include the Bolshoi Hall and Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow;  Philharmony Hall in St. Petersburg and Riga; Theatre Royal at London’s Brighton Festival; the Russian embassy in Washington DC; Illinois Opera; Milan, Perugia and many others.
 For the past 10 years she has been principal  soloist many opera  company  in  USA,  perform  La  Boheme, Faust,  Iolanta,  Trovatore and teaching at the Long Island  Conservatory in New York and Northern Westchester (Golden Bridge studio).

Dr. Meir Wiesel (Israel)

Pianist, conductor, public figure.
He was born in 1942 in Morocco and immigrated to Israel with his parents at the age of two.
He studied at the Tel Aviv Rubin Music Academy, at the Juilliard School in New York at the Department of Orchestral Conducting. He continued his education at the Graduate School of the New York City University of Music Theory, taught music theory at the Manhattan School of Music.
 He performed at concerts around the world as a pianist and conductor.
After 9 years of studying and working in New York, he returned to Israel in 1976, where he founded and directed the Conservatory in Eilat.
In 1983, he was appointed Director General of the Israeli Youth Music Association, was elected four times as a member of the leadership of the World Federation of Music Youth in Brussels, Belgium, and in 1996-1998 he was elected president of the Federation.
 In March 2013, he founded the Israeli piano quartet Octopus and the family concert series “Tuesdays in the top five” in the music center “Felicja Blumental”
 Member of the musical committee “Sal Tarbut Artzi”.
He worked as a lecturer in musicology at Tel Aviv University and at the music college Levinsky. He also actively engaged in music education and the dissemination of music for new audiences, mainly as director of the music department in Omanuta Laam.
Until recently, he was director of “Jeunesses Musicales d’Israe”l, as well as president of “Jeunesses Musicales International” in 1996-98. Founder of the Arab-Jewish Youth Orchestra.

Stanislav Solovyov (Russia)

The masterly pianist-soloist and concertmaster, the bright representative of St.Petersburg piano school. One of the few pianists who can be equally convincing in both large-scale solo programs and chamber ensemble and accompaniment. He graduated the St.Petersburg Conservatory, with great success performed with solo concerts in Latvia, Russia, the countries of Europe. He played with Academic orchestra of St.Petersburg philharmonic hall, symphonic orchestra of St.Petersburg’s chapel, the Latvian national symphonic orchestra, philharmonic orchestra of Belgrade, philharmonic orchestra of Wroclaw. The winner of many international competitions, among which the IV International  competition of pianists of Yazep Vitol (Riga,2002) and the III International competition of pianists of Franz Liszt in Wroclaw (Poland,2005). In 2011 gained the diploma “Best concertmaster” at the XIV International competition of Tchaikovsky. Since 2012 is one of the youngest teachers of St.Petersburg State conservatories of N.Rimsky-Korsakov. The discography of the musican includes asolo disc of Beethoven, Scriabin, Liszt, Prokofiev’s works.

Andrey Chystyakov (Russia)

Masterly violinist, the polystylist, the improvisator. He graduated Moscow State Conservatory of P.I. Tchaikovsky, class of professor Eduard Grach, postgraduate study in MSC of P.I. Tchaikovsky. The violinist-soloist of MKFO “Mosconcert”, cooperates with the leading Moscow record companies, private recording studios and various creative academic and also Gipsy collectives. He performed the role of the Gipsy violinist in the movie of Chukhraya “The Russian game”. He regularly participates in M. Kazinik’s concerts.

Igor Epstein (Germany)

Violinist, viola player, double bass player. Professor,
Rector of the Academy of Music of the Peoples of the World, Klezmer and Aesthetics “Weltmusik, Klezmer & Asthetik Akademie” (Cologne) – is known as a talented musician who devotes much time and energy to the revival of traditional Jewish culture and educational activities.
His brilliant lectures on the history of Jewish culture are heard by audiences in many countries around the world. In Europe – known not only as a virtuoso performer, but also as a showman, who combines elements of folklore, jazz and classics with Jewish humor.
All in all, his native music language is Klezmer.

Eli (Iliya) Raikhlin (Israel)

Pianist, conductor, music critic, teacher.
Honored Worker of Culture of Poland.
Laureate of international festivals and competitions ( Russia, Belarus, Thailand, Poland, Germany, France, USA, Israel).
Conducted “Master Classes” in Germany, Poland, the United States and Israel.
The founder and artistic director of the children, youth, adult jazz orchestras in different years.
A member of the jury of many international competitions and festivals (Russia, Belarus, Poland, Germany, Israel…).
Member of the Organizing Committee and member of the international music congresses and conferences (Russia, Germany, Italy, Spain…).
The author and publisher of a number of educational and teaching aids for music.
The founder and owner, General Director of the Music Centre “Titora Institute of Art Development” (Modiin, Israel), which this year celebrates 22 years.
